Stomax™

Good health begins in the stomach because this is where the body obtains nutrition and energy from food.

The stomach and intestines are extremely sensitive and easy to unbalance – and if the stomach fails to function as it should, neither does the rest of the body.

Stomax is a dietary food additive that fosters good digestion in dogs and cats.

It can be administered either as an intensive treatment for temporary problems or as long-term treatment (during problematical periods) to support the stomach function in sensitive individuals.

Stomax is also suitable for use:

  • when changing foods
  • during antibiotic treatment
  • or during periods when your dog or cat is subjected to extra stress
  • balancing the gastro-intestinal flora and bacteria
  • improving the immune

Veterinary Surgeons recommend Stomax for the following reasons:

  • Effective in treating several kinds of digestion complaints

  • Easy to administer and tastes pleasant to pets

  • Suitable for ALL dogs and cats

  • Contributes to healthy intestinal flora

  • High water absorbency which is really important for loose stools and toxin elimination

  • Contains PRE-biotics, metabolic roughage for better nutrition and mineral absorption

  • Easily mixed with water and administered in your pet’s normal food

When the stomach is unwell:

All of us know how it feels. Your stomach is unsettled and your whole life is affected negatively.

The same applies to dogs and cats. In most cases, the syndrome is harmless and easy to put right.

Your dog or cat might have

  • eaten something unsuitable
  • have an infection
  • be undergoing antibiotic treatment
  • stress during training/competition/travel
  • or some other change from day-to-day routine.

A change of feed could cause this, or you might have given your cat or dog something to eat to which it is unaccustomed.

Just like humans, animals are different individuals prone to differing degrees of sensitivity. Some dogs and cats have what we humans call a cast iron stomach and seem to manage changes without any trouble at all.

Others are more sensitive and their stomachs can react violently to even small differences. These animals often benefit from a little help and support for their stomachs during problematic periods.

K Lingren and Smilla

“Last spring my Rottweiler Smilla, began to develop seizures owing to bad digestion. I was unable to correct the problem despite antibiotics treatment and diet food.

I then heard good things about Stomax and administered this for the first time on the Saturday evening together with her regular food.

By Sunday evening her faeces were firm.  I continued to give her Stomax twice daily in her regular food.

Smilla is still taking Stomax, is in excellent health, active and happy.”

Stomax Customers say

Many of our customers have tried Stomax after using other products without results.

After only two days of using Stomax, most observed a significant improvement, whether in animals with severe diarrhoea or with chronic problems.

A case study of dog and cat owners demonstrated that all, except one, observed a tangible improvement during the prescribed period of treatment.

Common symptoms were diarrhoea, gas, vomiting, loss of appetite and gastrointestinal problems.

Fanny is a five year old Pomeranian. She has been having stomach trouble for quite some time and suffers from chronic diverticulosis.
For Fanny, this resulted in stomach pains, a painful red spot at the base of her tail, dull eyes and general tiredness and depression.

After taking Stomax regularly for a short time, we saw a big difference. The stomach pains and the red spot at the base of her tail disappeared. She now has bright eyes and is generally a much happier animal.

My American Cocker Spaniel Kim ,has suffered from intestinal inflammation since 1998, with loose and bloody stools. Since then he has been treated with different medicines with varying effects.

I tried many different feeds and other “additives”, but he was still loose in his stomach.

In early September 2005, I tried out a new cure called STOMAX, and using this, together with some light medication, he became completely cured of his symptoms.

On one occasion, we ran out of Stomax and could not give him his dose for a week. His faeces became loose again. We resumed the Stomax treatment and the problem disappeared.

Kim now functions as a happy, healthy dog. He will be given Stomax for the rest of his life, to the satisfaction of us all.

My cat suffered 7 months colitis as a consequence of elevated liver values.

Stomax produced the best results of all the preparations I tried together with diet food.

I took Scott to the animal hospital and received medicine for the liver values, but it failed to stop the diarrhoea until I used Stomax. Skott was better after 2-3 days of treatment. I administered Stomax once a day (together with diet food) for two months and was then able to stop the treatment.

If any of my cats suffer from diarrhoea again I shall use Stomax immediately!

Stomax Life Stages

When is Stomax useful?

  • Does your dog or cat have bad breath?
  • Pass wind more often than usual?
  • Are defecations loose or hard?
  • Is the coat dull?
  • Is there loss of appetite, tiredness or listlessness?

Any of these symptoms might mean the stomach is not functioning as it should.

Stomax acts entirely naturally and helps you dog or cat to maintain a good balance in stomach and intestines.

Stomax often provides a very good result within one or two days.

However, Stomax is not a miracle cure and should not be regarded as an alternative to veterinary care.

If your dog or cat is seriously ill, vomits blood, if there is blood in the defecation, if there are stomach pains or if the stomach does not improve within a reasonable time you should always consult a veterinary surgeon.

Protects and supports

Lecithin is a natural fatty acid that is important to digestion.

In Stomax lecithin has two important functions.

  1. it binds water and the nutritious fibres forming a jelly that protects the sensitive membrane in the stomach and intestines.
  2. it is important for the optimum function of the pancreas, something that is essential for both the digestion and the metabolism.

When your dog or cat receives a dose of Stomax, the amino acid lysine is released in the intestine.

Lysine strengthens the digestive process and helps the natural immune system to remain strong and effective. Stomax is additionally enriched with B vitamins for strength and stamina.

Stimulates beneficial bacteria and micro-organisms

Stomax contains the effective and well-documented prebiotic inulin/oligofructose that contributes to more efficient use of minerals and nutrients from the daily food intake.

Inulin/oligofructose has a broad spectrum effect. This means that it is beneficial to a large area of the intestines.

Moreover, Stomax contains yeast fibre that functions as a nutritive additive for the important benign organisms that live in the large intestine where nutrition is obtained from food. The yeast fibres also stimulate the intestines muscular action, otherwise called peristalsis.

Normalises defecation

Stomax contains healthy fibre that is important to the digestion.

When your dog or cat eats sufficient fibre, intestinal movements are made more efficient and it becomes easier for the intestines to transport waste products out of the body. This is particularly important if the stomach is a little hard and motions are difficult.

At the same time, these fibres are effective when defecation is looser than normal because they absorb any excess liquid in the intestines.

Fibre Ingredient and Concentrate in Stomax

The carefully selected fibre in Stomax is collected from potato tuber, from Swedish potatoes. It takes approximately 50 kg of potatoes to provide just 1 kg fibre. It has a favourable impact on the digestive tract as it has a typical analysis of 70% dietary fibre. It is relatively low in phytic acid which means that it is unlikely to interfere with mineral absorption. It has very high water binding capacity with 90% absorbed in less than one minute. In comparison with other fibre products, this potato fibre has many benefits over other typical sources.

The potato fibre in Stomax contains a relatively high percentage of galactose. This contributes to increased activity in the pancreas which increases Trypsin production. (Research at the University of Lund/Sweden demonstrated that the Trypsin activity in pigs (also monogastrics) increased over four times within 8 days compared to animals not fed this fibre.) This increase in enzyme activity leads to improved feed metabolism which has a positive influence on the blood sugar and insulin levels leading to a less stressed and more relaxed animal. Research on horses also shows “beneficial activity on the healing of gastric ulcer syndrome in the horse”.

Other ingredients in Stomax and what they do

Lecithin:

Is a natural lipid of a type normally found in cells (especially those of the nervous system). It can exhibit surfactant qualities that reduce the surface tension of the stomach contents. Complexed with the potato fibre gel forms on contact with water and improves the protective qualities of the natural mucin layer, which acts as a barrier against the hydrochloric acid of the stomach to protect the sensitive mucosa.

Yeast:

The yeast in Stomax foremost has effect in the appendix and in the large colon. It gives important nutrition to the microorganisms that contribute to a healthy intestinal flora such that feed is well metabolized with the better release of nutritive substances.

Inulin/Oligofructose:

Is a broad spectrum combination of maybe the most well documented Prebiotic. It will act as feed for the good microbes in both the small and large colon with an increased utilization of Ca, P, Cu, Fe and MG as result.

Standard Diet vs Inulin Diet: 0 – 15 Days

Vitamins and amino acids:

The requirements increase with stress and digestive disorders, as the animals´ ability to assimilate vitamins and amino acids decrease. B vitamins are beneficial for the coat, counteracts stress, and favours the metabolism.
