In memory and admiration of a very grand old lady.
I asked Andrew if he would mind that I dedicate a Newsletter to his beautiful girl, Jessie.
Jess, a working and very active German Short-haired Pointer, passed at the very grand age of 15 years and 4 months, just last week, on 15 August 2018. His response:
“Of course you can. I would be honoured.
Some basic facts that I think would be relevant for you.
As you know she started on Sashas after the shoulder injury when she was about 5 years old.
We only formally retired her at age 14 1/2, so we had all that extra time in the field with her. And this was her life.. something she lived for and enjoyed beyond description.
She passed at 15 years 4 month almost to the day… truly the most difficult thing I have ever had to do and experience but the memories and experiences that she gave me will last a lifetime.
You know, because of Jessie I have travelled to places I would not have otherwise gone to, I have hunted areas I would never have hunted, I have met people from all walks of life and made lifelong friends… all because of her. So YES I would be honoured if you mentioned her…”
After receiving those words, I am left quite speechless, but also very honoured to have been one of those people that were introduced to Andrew and his family – all because of such grand, gracious and amazing dog.
