HIGH DRIVE DOGS ARE BRED TO WORK AND DON'T SHOW PAIN
It happened to me. My dog showed that she was injured just 4 weeks before the Nationals!
Vet instruction: rest her for a minimum of 6 weeks. I missed the National Championships.
The injury could have been prevented! But I didn't even know how to identify those weaker areas in the first place.
My dog showed me signs well before the injury, but didn't know what to look for.
I had no idea what my sport training had done to the muscles in her body.
I know better now! I am not scared any more.
ever wondered what the consequences of sport training are?
This is Ornella [IGP3, FH1], my IGP Fantastic Hero Dog and Champion - now retired.

Here's everything that's included
1
Section 1: Who am I, my story and why is it important.
Experience with IGP sports injuries and how it impacted me, my dog and my training.
My dog was recently injured. My dog showed ZERO pain and after a 15 minute check, my vet came back saying that he could see nothing, could elicit no pain and could find no fault. After showing the vet exactly where to look, a specialised veterinarian reviewed the material. A grade 3 strain spotted. My trained eye knew exactly where they had to look and now I am on the road to a super recovery.
2
Section 2: Sport, Strains and Pains
How the demands of the sport have changed and how these changes have impacted training and the increased risk of injury. Pain indication for sport dogs is very different from that of sporting humans. Factors that increase the risk of muscle strains and the various grades of strains.
3
Section 3: Common Injuries and how to determine those signals
The common injuries in the sport and how they occur along with signs of pain that dogs may show us. Know what your dog's current "normal" state is and how to determine handy bony landmarks that will guide you to further insights about your dog's body regarding potential injury.
4
Section 4: Body Checks - What do you see?
Assessing various positions your dogs find themselves in and what their bodies are telling us. Practical examples of what you are looking for in your own dogs. An example of a dog who trained for sport and his body changes are discussed along with an "after" photo of the effects of conditioning.

I love the Body Checks Formula because it saved my dog's sporting career!
Hi, I'm Angela Ahern
I have trained dogs for almost 3 decades, specialising, training and competing in protection sports (IPO/IGP) for over 15 years during which I achieved a National Championship with my dog Ornella (my reason for starting The Biokinetic K-9).
Power sports (human and K9) as always been an interest of mine. I became a Black Belt in karate and have been involved with athletes and competitors in human power sports (weightlifting, powerlifting and bodybuilding) for most of my life. I became a Certified Canine Athlete Specialist, Trainer/Advisor (CCAS), Certified Canine Myofascial Release Practitioner (CMFR) and a Professional Member of the International Association of Canine Professionals, to help sport dogs even more.
My specialty lies with sporting and working dogs – in particular, those dogs engaged in impact and protection sports which I like to think makes me uniquely qualified to help you. You see, as a dog handler and competitor, I understand the rigors of the sport, the impact it has on our dogs and the dogs involved.

Still have Questions? Here's Some Answers
Absolutely!
Although some basic obedience training will be an advantage. You will be asking your dog to sit, stand and lie down. If you can do this, that is fantastic. Use a treat to encourage or help our dog to get into a position. Some basic understanding of a treat/reward/marker training system would be great but not essential.
At this stage, no extra equipment is needed.
You will however need:
- 1 x your Awesome Dog
- Some of his or her awesome and favourite treats.
- Optional: 2 x stable platforms or "target pads" with non-slip surfaces that fit the length of your dog so he can stand or lie down on it in lengthways. Although these are not a must a this stage.
You may either make your own platforms (as I did) or you may purchase an Aerobic Step platform or a Klimb platform (please ensure that these are non-slip - this is most important).
The workshop is about 3 hours and has been divided into 5 sessions. Each session in approximately 40 minutes long (although some have been divided into small sections).
You have lifetime access to the workshop and you may refer back to it at any time!
This is not for someone who only sits on the sidelines.
I want you to ENGAGE! Dive in! Interact, ask questions (even silly ones – I am an expert, actually the founder of "silly questions"! Share videos, photos of your dogs, ask questions about your dogs and even about you and how you are working with your dog! Your community is for you! You are a "YES" just because you are here!
This will be the safe training ground for those that want to learn, implement and understand.
The more you engage, the more value you will receive.
The workshop has loads of information and is designed to help you train your eye and how you see your dog. Practice this safely in our private Facebook group. The knowledge you gain will stay with you for the rest of your life and may apply to every dog you own.
You are encouraged to ask as questions to gain understanding about what you see in your dog.
If you would prefer more extensive support, I have one-on-one consultations and am happy to assist you directly. These services would be available to all members who partake in the course at a discounted price.
Please contact me if you require more information.
For sure!
The information is useful for all dogs that are adult to senior and awesome for active pets. It is super essential to dogs who train for sports or work as they tend to be "high-drive" dogs who hide their pain very well. The knowledge you gain on how to spot injuries and what to look for in your dog’s performance will help you with any other dogs that you may be training for a sport or work too!
