Progressing too quickly will leave you with a sore dog, like when you start a new workout at the gym (regardless of your own fitness levels :-))&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This is even more important for young, inexperienced, or older dogs. If your dog has suffered a previous injury or has just recovered from an injury, you really need to pay extra attention!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Progress strategically WITH form. Lack of strategic progression will give NO Results.<\/strong> <\/p>\n<p>To acquire strength, muscles need to develop over time through form and then gradual increase in load while maintaining proper form. &nbsp;This is essential, especially when aiming to prevent injury.<\/p>\n<p style=\"cursor: text;\">\n<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"t-1639990627541\" style=\"cursor: text;\">Simple Progression Mental Checklist<\/h3>\n<p>Just being able to do an exercise is different from conditioning.<\/p>\n<p>Performing the <em>correct<\/em> repetitions over time builds a dog into the desired condition of stronger muscles, agility, sureness of movement for powerful execution and muscle stamina!<\/p>\n<p>To achieve this, we need to start with the simplest mechanics of a movement before we can progress.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>It works like this:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"t-1648667603445\"><strong>Questions to ask yourself before you progress in an exercise<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Have you practiced building form and mechanics of a movement?&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Can the dog perform the movement correctly?&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Can the dog repeat the movement several times?&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Should I progress to a more advanced level yet? &nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>These are some of the questions you should ask yourself before progressing on an exercise.<\/p>\n<p style=\"cursor: text;\">If any of the answers are <strong>NO<\/strong>, remain at the level you are on or even take a step back to ensure mechanics of movement are awesome!<\/p>\n<p style=\"cursor: text; text-align: center;\"><em>When considering advancing to the next level, ensure that your dog has achieved the desired level of conditioning and confidence in that exercise, while maintaining correct form at the current level &#8211; only then should you advance to the next progression or variation.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The faster you progress or rush through the exercises, the easier it is to achieve <strong>NO Result <\/strong>or worse, an injury. The body needs to catch up and adapt to the exercises that it has performed.<\/p>\n<p>We must give the body, muscles, tendons, ligaments, and neural pathways time to change, adapt and grow &#8211; (this sometimes applies to you too, in how you set yourself up for the training session, your body position and treat delivery).<\/p>\n<p>This &#8220;time to catch up&#8221; usually takes around 2 &#8211; 3 weeks working a minimum of 3 times per week.<\/p>\n<p style=\"cursor: text;\">Only increase a challenge once the dog has mastered the current exercise with good form\/posture, technique and confidence.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Rather, enjoy the experiences with your dog and watch them become strong! \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Happy Training!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"\">\n<p id=\"t-1648667603446\" style=\"cursor: text;
